30 years ago, the world of roleplaying was forever changed when an event called "Rekon-1" was run at Boskone XX. Arguably the first modern live-action roleplaying game, it formed the foundation for all that followed. Now, 30 years later, the Lime Shirts are giving tribute to this classic game with "Nexus", SIL West's modern rewrite of "Rekon-1".
Come and attend "Commoncon", the biggest sci-fi convention to hit the Troy, NY area since last month! What could be more exciting than a weekend devoted to alien contact? Fans from all over are coming; the costuming looks to be absolutely fantastic. Distinguished guests from popular television series promise to make the convention a big success. All those UFO sightings in the past few weeks are just coincidence. Or are they?
Why are so many prominent scientists, military officials, and business men showing up? Isn't this taking multi-media to a bit of an extreme? And the costumes! Those tentacles look incredibly realistic. Why would anyone go to such lengths to produce such awful smelling slime? Could it be a prop from one of the TV shows? But doesn't Babylon 5 use computer rendering? Just what has happened to the weapons policy? Some of those toy guns look oddly functional... How do those guys get that little black box to float six inches off the ground? What about the legendary ghost of Carnegie Hall? Just another clever effect? Why would anyone come to a science fiction convention dressed as a gangster? And that guy with the floppy hat and long scarf? Nah, couldn't be...
Nexus costs the same as previous Lime Shirt games; $25, with the option to pay $15 up front plus $10 at the door, or all $25 up front. As always, this includes dinner Saturday night, as well as a weekend of fun and games....or backstabbing and chaos. Please ensure you pay at least the $15; this will allow you to get your character sheet once we finish casting the game. Anyone who does not pay the balance at the door (or has not done so already) will not get a character packet.
